The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pushed up the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one company is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find to oil. It’s set up the Middle East’s first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving successful too, already their client-list consists of McDonald’s.
